Prostrata Juniper 1
Scientific name: Juniperus Chinensis Var. Sargentii
Origin: China
Distinguishing feature: Prostrate in growing habits; truck turns and twists to prove design opportunities. Perfect natural material without the need for extensive wiring.
Style: Semi-cascade
History: Bought 1985 in a 15 gallon nursery pot. It was intended for a koi pond fountain. Re-positioned to form a semi-cascade bonsai. Unlike most bonsai of this style, with a straight long exaggerated lower branch, the design capitalizes on the natural curvature, and a branch of the cascade arm is wired to make it a “double trunk.
Capitalizing on the natural curves of the growth habit, it has never been wired aside to form the secondary apex.
