
Cork Elm
Scientific name: Ulmus Japonica var. Seiju
Origin: Northern Japan
Distinguishing feature: Cork bark with tiny leaves. The branches are very brittle and therefore not suitable for wiring. This tree is styled entirely by the clip and growth method. It is planted in a round pot to imply open space.
Style: Semi-cascade
History: Bought in a one gallon can in 2005, and planted in the ground to gain trunk size. Reoriented to this design in 2019.
