Cork Elm

Scientific name: Ulmus Japonica var. Seiju

Origin: Northern Japan

Distinguishing feature: Cork bark with tiny leaves. The branches are very brittle and therefore not suitable for wiring. This tree is styled entirely by the clip and growth method. It is planted in a round pot to imply open space.

Style: Semi-cascade

History: Bought in a one gallon can in 2005, and planted in the ground to gain trunk size. Reoriented to this design in 2019.
